Baby, it's cold outside
Merry Christmas, everyone! It's cold outside and I am looking for a new coat. I've been wearing mine three years in a row now and it's time for something new. All these grey and dark days make me wish for a colourful soft woolen coat with a (fake) fur collar. I also love the russian princess coat Louise is wearing. I can't believe this coat is from Primark! I could have sworn it was vintage. It seems to be sold out though. I had the intention of buying a vintage coat anyway and I think I'm going to stick with that. I did browse the coat section on Etsy and I fell in love with the green one with the fur collar, but I'm a bit undecided yet.

What to Wear at Minus 11° Degrees
I was a bit surprised to wake up to such a cold day today. I hadn't imagined it would get that cold already. But we had to leave the house running errands anyway. I think my wardrobe isn't exactly equipped for those temperatures and even though I wore two pair of tights, socks and boots and a woolen skirt I did get my feet cold. I also wore two sweaters and a winter coat... Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture. The one above is from last year when the lake froze.
I think my outfit choice wasn't so bad at all, if I had chosen a different pair of boots. But still, I think these temperatures are the most challenging for picking stylish clothes and stay warm at the same time.
This however made me go on an internet hunt on streetstyle sites from colder regions. It seemed a lot of them didn't show pictures in the winter months, but I found some inspirational looks on Hel-Looks:

Snow
Hi there, I'm back. Yesterday we had the first day of snow this winter. We took a walk in the park. Of course there's nothing left of the snow today. Why is it so that our mood is so much better in winter when it snows?

Red
I bought this dress on the flea market last week, originally with the intention to sell it, but it was so warm and lovely outside, so I decided to wear it instead.

Kate Spade
I only recently found out about this lovely collection from Kate Spade via The Clothes Horses and I absolutely love it. I seriously love every single piece of this collection. It's like they knew me and designed it for me. There is the sixties, there's polka dots, bright tights and bright colours, especially yellow..., there are a-line skirts and dresses, beautiful garments, bows, big bottoms, even flat shoes... It's so perfect and sort of reminds me of Audrey Hepburn. I actually went shopping today to find some polka dotted tights, but to no avail...

Burda Style
I bought Burda Style today, the german version of that magazine that is, although I'm not entirely sure if there are any other versions. I just felt an instant urge to re-establish my sewing skills, if I ever had any. I loved it. Of course it had to be, that I liked the patterns the most, that required the most elaborate sewing skills. Like this beautiful folklore coat and skirt. Things that I never will be able to make. At least I won't try it out in the near future as I'm not planning on ruining meters of fabric. I settled for a skirt instead, which should be a lot easier for the first thing I will be sewing. If you're into sewing you should check out their international site. There are lots of patterns there, some of them are free.

Blue
Today we were taking a walk in the forest. I was planning on wearing some different shoes in the first place, but since there was a lot of walking involved I chose these ones instead and so I ended up being dressed in blue from top to bottom..

Swedish Hasbeens
All summer long I was looking for the right kind of sandals. They should have been supercomfy but have a heel as well and they should have been going with just about anything. I did not find any. Partly maybe because I don't shop in shops so much anymore. It is hard to find the right kind of shoe in just the right size on a fleamarket.
Today I came across these sandals with wooden heels and these are exactly the kind of shoes I've been looking for. They are from the Swedish brand Swedish Hasbeens. I have never heard of them before, but it seems they are already quite popular in Sweden and also sell their shoes abroad. The shoes are inspired from 1970's models, they are handmade and eco-friendly. They also don't seem to fall apart after just a few months.

Mad Men
So now that summer is almost officially over, the meteorological summer that is, I might as well do a little fall inspirational post. I haven't quite bothered with fall fashion until now, as summer came so late this year and I was still happy having it around and didn't really want to think about colder wheather.
Anyway, my favourite TV series Mad Men started two weeks ago with its third season. As always I don't like it alone for its plot and wittyness and but also for the beautiful clothes.
So I did a little search on Etsy looking for Mad Men inspired dresses from the 1960's, mostly plaid ones. I must admit, Etsy did that too, but these were mostly sold out, so I looked up some new ones instead. These were the ones I liked the most:

(Last) Days of Summer
Just had to share these images of Zooey Deschanel in 1930's looking beachwear. Reading about her new movie (500) Days of Summer got me on a serious hunt through the internet for outfit pictures. Then I stumbled upon these. I can't remember by whom or for which magazine they were taken, but I really like the vintage appeal here and how they resemble old holiday postcards. So I decided to post these instead.

Vintage Swimsuits
Lately I was all obsessed with going swimming and looking at vintage beachwear and old holiday postcards. I think it was because of the heatwave we were going through. If I had some extra cash on my hands right now, I'd definitely spend it for a 1960's bikini. But I don't and fall is around the corner also, so I wouldn't get a chance to wear it this year anyway. So I leave you with some nice pictures I stole from the flickr groups Retro Beach and Vintage Beach, River, and Swimming Pool Postcards. If you like vintage beachwear you should definitely check it out. You might also like to have a look into my Etsy shop, as I found some old deadstock bikini bottoms from the 1960's just recently and I listed them there.

Thrifted Goods
I went thrifting the other day and I still keep finding summery stuff. I came across these two sundresses which I actually bought for the shop, but I don't know if they would still sell, as people are starting to look out for fall items. Same thing with the sandals. Oh, and the blue wedges... I was looking for blue wedges for quite some time now, I finally found these vintage deadstock ones. I kept walking around in them for like 15 minutes and the glue came off and the straps got ripped. This is a strange thing that only happens with vintage shoes that haven't been worn before. So, below I am wearing one of the sundresses which I really wanted to wear with the wedges, but couldn't. Have to bring these to the shoemakers' and see if they're repairable.
This weekend I went swimming for the first time this year!

At the Vineyards
Today we had time to visit the vineyards a few miles from our city. So beautiful! I wore my vintage dress I got last year from Ebay and a blouse that came with a dirndl I found on the fleamarket for only 1 Euro. I know the stupid tote bag with the green bottle kind of ruins it all, but I had to carry something to drink and honestly I didn't think so much about the suitability of bags at 7:30 in the morning when I packed it.
