Sunday

Last Saturday was one of the best fleamarketing days I had experienced for quite a long time. I found lots of dresses, shoes etc. for my store, but also some good things for myself. On these pics I am wearing one of them. I really love this 1950's sundress with its gingham print. It's almost unbelievable, that I got it for only 2 €!

Shop Update

Today I added a couple of vintage bags to my shop. You can find them here. I especially love the petit point and tapestry ones, but I already own quite a few of them, so I had to part with some.

I also still have all red, black and yellow (gold) things 5% reduced for as long as the soccer worldcup lasts. I ship internationally.

France

I took the day off from work yesterday to go to France to shop for groceries there. These pictures, however where not taken in France, but on a small parking lot at the road beside a vineyard, except the first one.

Choosing a name...

Photobucket

I am thinking about opening up my own vintage store and sell items independently from Ebay & Co. What confuses me mostly is picking a name, as I am selling under a lot of different names now. So I put up a little poll in the sidebar and am  asking you to let me know what you think. Thanks!

First Signs of Spring

I was hunting down the first signs of spring that day, looking at every little blossom I could find twice, just to be extra sure, that it's really coming. The birds were all breeding or building their nests, so I guess, they couldn't be wrong, could they?

I wore my new dress, I just got off of Ebay. It was really cheap, and I was surprised it was so lovely, as I couldn't tell from the photo exactly.

At the Pond

Yesterday, we took a walk in the park and it was even possible to take off my coat for a while and take some outfit shots with the new camera which finally arrived. I still haven't figured out how to take decent shots with it yet, the pictures appear kind of blurry. So I'm a bit undecided, if I should send it back or keep it and learn how to use it. I had to take indoor shots today, and I couldn't figure out the whitebalance, so this was quite annoying.

The outfit I'm wearing is inspired by fall colours, although I can see that dress working in summer as well. I thrifted it this week and originally had the intention to sell it, but I just couldn't part with it. I don't usually find dresses from the 1950's. And this one even fits me like a glove. It's tailor made and has a very funny print on it. I already wore it twice this week, I definitely had to keep it.

Elsa Schiaparelli's Trompe l'oeil Sweater

Photobucket

picture via Schoolhouse press

I've been coveting this Elsa Schiaparelli bow sweater ever since I got this book about vintage fashion for Christmas. I was thinking about maybe I could, or better someone else could, knit this sweater after the picture of it. Learning to knit was on my new years resolution list, but maybe a sweater would be too ambitious for someone who has never knit something before. For those of you who are however a bit more experienced, I found the knitting instructions for the sweater: Schoolhouse press has the instructions downloadable as pdf files on their site for free.

For those who can't knit, like myself, I found the sweetest replacements on Etsy:

I absolutely adore the one on the top right, which is also the most similar to Elsa Schiaparellis'.

Vintage Living

On New Year's Day we went to the museum of technology and work. I was fascinated by a copy of a typical middle class house and its' interiors from around 1900. I always love to see things like this and wanted to share with you some of the pictures I took. I love all the tiny little details lying around there. Like the birdcage or the hot water bottle in the bed.

Baby, it's cold outside

Merry Christmas, everyone! It's cold outside and I am looking for a new coat. I've been wearing mine three years in a row now and it's time for something new. All these grey and dark days make me wish for a colourful soft woolen coat with a (fake) fur collar. I also love the russian princess coat Louise is wearing. I can't believe this coat is from Primark! I could have sworn it was vintage. It seems to be sold out though. I had the intention of buying a vintage coat anyway and I think I'm going to stick with that. I did browse the coat section on Etsy and I fell in love with the green one with the fur collar, but I'm a bit undecided yet.

I bought this dress on the flea market last week, originally with the intention to sell it, but it was so warm and lovely outside, so I decided to wear it instead.

Mad Men

Photobucket

So now that summer is almost officially over, the meteorological summer that is, I might as well do a little fall inspirational post. I haven't quite bothered with fall fashion until now, as summer came so late this year and I was still happy having it around and didn't really want to think about colder wheather.
Anyway, my favourite TV series Mad Men started two weeks ago with its third season. As always I don't like it alone for its plot and wittyness and but also for the beautiful clothes.
So I did a little search on Etsy looking for Mad Men inspired dresses from the 1960's, mostly plaid ones. I must admit, Etsy did that too, but these were mostly sold out, so I looked up some new ones instead. These were the ones I liked the most:

Thrifted Goods

I went thrifting the other day and I still keep finding summery stuff. I came across these two sundresses which I actually bought for the shop, but I don't know if they would still sell, as people are starting to look out for fall items. Same thing with the sandals. Oh, and the blue wedges... I was looking for blue wedges for quite some time now, I finally found these vintage deadstock ones. I kept walking around in them for like 15 minutes and the glue came off and the straps got ripped. This is a strange thing that only happens with vintage shoes that haven't been worn before. So, below I am wearing one of the sundresses which I really wanted to wear with the wedges, but couldn't. Have to bring these to the shoemakers' and see if they're repairable.

This weekend I went swimming for the first time this year!

Monday

Today was another nice and sunny day. I worked on my Ebay template, listed something on Etsy, packed a few packages, took some pictures, did errands and had a walk in the park. Did some university research. I also got outbid on this pretty 40's dress on Ebay, which wasn't so nice, but oh well...

24 Dresses and a Bag

I bought 12 kilo of vintage the other day, which consisted precisely of 24 dresses, from the 1970's mostly. Almost all of them will be added to the shop within the next few weeks. There are some colourful mod dresses and also a very pretty 1960's mini wedding dress. I also got a few blouses and this lovely bag with flowers. But this one I will keep.

I was a bit hesitant at first to go to this shop. Now I think, I will have to go at least once a month. There is just nothing like it. They pile up tons and tons of clothes there, you just have to dig. You can find some pretty treasures there if you work yourself through the 1990's polyester dresses and other strange things. The best thing is, everything costs the same, regardless of what it is.

Vintage Shoes with Sunflowers

I put up some new shoes on Etsy this week. Also I'm trying this new picture editing software for my blog now. I always admire people with these beautiful picture collages and backgrounds on their blogs and I never know how they do it. I know, this blog has been pretty dead lately. I'm trying to revive it though.

Luck of Rain

I went thrifting today and I already had spent a few hours in the thrift store and found lots of things, when suddenly a huge thunderstorm emerged and forced me to stay a little longer. I guess I was lucky, because I haven't been looking at the sunglasses until then and look what I found: a pair of vintage authentic 1970's sunglasses from Balenciaga and also a pair of Chloe sunglasses, which might also be from the 1970's or maybe 1980's.

Top down: Balenciaga sunglasses, vintage 1970's noname sunglasses, vintage Polaroid sunglasses, vintage Chloe sunglasses. I think all of these probably may have belonged to the same person, because the rest of the sunglasses they had there were all crap. I might sell these on Ebay eventually and only keep one of them for myself.

Saturday's Flea Market

I love these Saturdays when there is this big flea market to go to, which is only once in a month. There are smaller ones to be found once in a week, but on the big one you can find really good stuff at reasonable prices. I found some beautiful Gabor suede boots from the 1970's for only 5 €. But I did let go a silk dress from the 1950's and a 40's dress, which I sort of regret right now. I also found a couple of shoes from the 70's and 80's which don't fit me, so I will sell them on Ebay.
