Sunday

Last Saturday was one of the best fleamarketing days I had experienced for quite a long time. I found lots of dresses, shoes etc. for my store, but also some good things for myself. On these pics I am wearing one of them. I really love this 1950's sundress with its gingham print. It's almost unbelievable, that I got it for only 2 €!

Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony

Chloe Sevigny presented her third collection for Opening Ceremony on June 8th and I didn't notice until yesterday. While browsing Style.coms resort 2011 pages, as I was feeling a bit uninspired fashionwise and looking for some fresh looks, I stumbled across it and loved it immediately. The collection is very 1990's but in a good way. It consists of five dress styles in five different prints, and  is accompanied by pretty skyhigh platform shoes and matching tights in polka dots, leopard and grey. I liked the polka dot and floral dresses the most, but I have a thing for florals and dots. The collection is also pretty easy to get inspired by and will have me look around for something similar in thrift shops or flea markets.

Shop Update

Today I added a couple of vintage bags to my shop. You can find them here. I especially love the petit point and tapestry ones, but I already own quite a few of them, so I had to part with some.

I also still have all red, black and yellow (gold) things 5% reduced for as long as the soccer worldcup lasts. I ship internationally.

I apologize for being absent for such a long time. Today it was very lovely and hot outside. I wore my new swallow print dress and sat in the sun, ate fish, drank rosé wine, read french Vogue. What could have been better?

France

I took the day off from work yesterday to go to France to shop for groceries there. These pictures, however where not taken in France, but on a small parking lot at the road beside a vineyard, except the first one.

Choosing a name...

Photobucket

I am thinking about opening up my own vintage store and sell items independently from Ebay & Co. What confuses me mostly is picking a name, as I am selling under a lot of different names now. So I put up a little poll in the sidebar and am  asking you to let me know what you think. Thanks!

Days without Tights

Today was the first day without tights for me this year. It was also the first day of eating icecream outside, going for a long walk, eating strawberry cake in the garden and doing all those things you would love to do on a pretty spring day. It was so lovely outside that after I finished up all of next week's auctions, I just had to get outside.

I chose to wear this 1950's dirndl dress I bought on the fleamarket last month, but hadn't had the opportunity to wear yet. I love it's rose print and I think it's really a perfect little spring dress.

Cherry Blossoms, I think

While running errands we made a stop at the cemetery. There was this pretty tree in full bloom. I was fascinated by how much life it inheres with bees and bumble-bees and a small titmouse (?) flying around its' blossoms. I think it was a cherry tree, but I'm not good at telling the difference between fruit trees when they don't carry fruits.

Happy Easter II

Photobucket

We came across these two little bunnies today, so I just had to fotograph and post them...

Happy Easter!

I was inspired by the new Lula today to try out some striped tights with a spring dress. I own these tights for a couple of years now, but I don't usually wear them, and I must say, I did feel too self conscious in them to wear them on a regular basis. A bit childish, perhaps. I think these are pretty hard to pull off. Lula did find some really nice ways to wear them and this is definitely something, I will try out again, but maybe with another dress and shoes next time.

Cannes 1960's

All these spring collections I've been looking at lately at H&M and related shops seemed so maritime and relaxing to me, with their blues and reds and stripes and dots, that they made me think of the Cote d'Azur back in the days. Of Cannes and 1960's french movie stars like Brigitte Bardot, Jean Seberg and others. I did make a quick search on the internet for some inspirational pics and they make we want to buy a full skirt 60's dress and skinny pants and striped sweaters now. I also would like to watch A Bout De Souffle now, which I haven' seen before.

First Signs of Spring

I was hunting down the first signs of spring that day, looking at every little blossom I could find twice, just to be extra sure, that it's really coming. The birds were all breeding or building their nests, so I guess, they couldn't be wrong, could they?

I wore my new dress, I just got off of Ebay. It was really cheap, and I was surprised it was so lovely, as I couldn't tell from the photo exactly.

V like Vintage

For those of you that love to look at vintage photographs of all kinds, especially those taken by amateur photographers I would like to recommend this site, to which I came across this weekend by incident. It's name is V like Vintage, and you can browse through the pictures by different categories or decades. There's even a fashion category. I found some pretty spring inspirations there. But I also loved to flip through all the old fashioned holiday postcards and tourist places. They had such a flair back then...

Cake

We went for coffee and cake to my parents' house today. I made brioche, which was actually really good, although I had never made it before. My mom didn't like my dress too much, she said it is too grandma-ish, but I like granny things. I can't help it.

Spring Inspiration: The 50ies & Pink

I found myself pretty drawn to pink lately. I guess this just expresses my need for spring. It might have also something to do with this post on Vintage Vixen's blog. I love how she combined her dress with the black accessories. So I did a little inspiration shopping on Etsy and found some cute 1950's pieces:
