Rainy Days

It was raining cats and dogs today, and I mean all day. It's better than this snow though, because it just makes me feel we are a little closer to spring now, but this could be a false conclusion. It made me think about that saying, raining cats and dogs, and where it would come from. I have no idea, but I like it somehow. So I decided to cheer myself up and make a little collection of cats and dog things.

Those rainy days also make you remember, that there actually is something in between winter and spring. When we think spring, we like to think about the first sunny days and flowers in bloom when we will wear sundresses again, but I know that there will be a lot of uncomfortable days before that. Last year I was on the lookout for a cute vintage raincoat, but somehow forgot about it. I think I will start looking again now.

Swedish Hasbeens

Photobucket

All summer long I was looking for the right kind of sandals. They should have been supercomfy but have a heel as well and they should have been going with just about anything. I did not find any. Partly maybe because I don't shop in shops so much anymore. It is hard to find the right kind of shoe in just the right size on a fleamarket.

Today I came across these sandals with wooden heels and these are exactly the kind of shoes I've been looking for. They are from the Swedish brand Swedish Hasbeens. I have never heard of them before, but it seems they are already quite popular in Sweden and also sell their shoes abroad. The shoes are inspired from 1970's models, they are handmade and eco-friendly. They also don't seem to fall apart after just a few months.

24 Dresses and a Bag

I bought 12 kilo of vintage the other day, which consisted precisely of 24 dresses, from the 1970's mostly. Almost all of them will be added to the shop within the next few weeks. There are some colourful mod dresses and also a very pretty 1960's mini wedding dress. I also got a few blouses and this lovely bag with flowers. But this one I will keep.

I was a bit hesitant at first to go to this shop. Now I think, I will have to go at least once a month. There is just nothing like it. They pile up tons and tons of clothes there, you just have to dig. You can find some pretty treasures there if you work yourself through the 1990's polyester dresses and other strange things. The best thing is, everything costs the same, regardless of what it is.

The Trashy Diva

There have been some complaints lately about someone copying the dress of an independent designer, fully justified complaints by the way. The good thing about it was though, that they called my attention to The Trashy Diva in the first place. Otherwise I would have never known about it. And not only is this specific dress beautiful, I found lots of other wonderful dresses made of beautiful patterned fabrics. Pictured above are my three favourites. I will definetely go back there some time soon.

New shoes and a Swimsuit

These are my latest purchases. Both shoes are from Ebay. The brown sandals were sold as true vintage 1970's sandals, but I guess they're not. They could be from Zara or something, but I like them anyways.

The swimsuit is thrifted and from the 1970's. It is actually a kids swimsuit but luckily I do fit into it. I got it for 1.50 €. I haven't worn swimsuits in ages, but I think with this one I could start again.

Threadless Summer Sale

Threadless is having a huge sale again, so you can grab a T-Shirt for only 10$. I wanted to buy this kitty shirt for some time now, unfortunately they had only 8 left this morning and I didn't have my credit card with me to order straight away. So these are sold out now in my size, I will have to try out the smaller size though and hope that it fits. I'm also looking for a white T-Shirt with a nice smaller print, so I'm going to order the one with the panda bear as well.

The floral dress

I'm a bad blogger, I guess. I only get done two posts in a month and in April there wasn't even one. I need to improve, I think. Right now I'm in love with this dress from Primark. Where I live, we don't have Primark which is on the one hand pretty good, because you probably won't meet anybody in the same dress on the street, on the other hand you have to buy them on Ebay and pay eventually a lot more than they cost in the shops. I wonder for how much they retail, 10 £?

I think I might buy this dress in black though. I've been on the lookout for a dress like this for quite a while now, and haven't been able to find something vintage for a reasonable price. I just wish I hadn't thrown away all my 90's floral dresses.

I heart seahorses

I'm really into maritime accessories lately. I'm still waiting for someone to give me that Alex & Chloe octopus necklace, I've been talking about. But I also like other fish like seahorses for instance. While browsing the internet to search for a seahorse necklace, which isn't too tacky, I came across this cute little necklace from Etsy seller Pollyannacowgirl. She also sells other funny things like the totally adorable Tea with lemon necklace and the Hermit crab necklace and some cute rings. They also come at reasonable prices, I definetely must get some of these when my status of being broke is over.

New Dress

I got this dress in the mail today.I ordered it at V for Vintage. I love it, although I think about shortening it a little bit. Since it is so high-necked and has a very full skirt it appears a bit like a little girl's dress. Or maybe I will have to combine it with very high heels in order to feel less girly in it.

Crochet Dress

I got this crochet dress on Ebay a while ago and today it arrived in the mail. It's amazing, because it seems to be all handmade it must have been a lot of work to make it. And I got it for only 10€. It also comes with a little jacket. The strangest thing is, the seller sold it as a dress from the 70ies, but it appears to be much older, like from the 20ies, because it is so fragile, but I don't know exactly, it has an insewn slip underneath which seems to be a polyblend. I don't know since when this material was made. The 50ies I think. Anyhow this is a very beautiful dress for spring.

Threadless Sale

Threadless have a large holiday sale going on, that means every T-shirt costs only 10$. I bought myself the foxy T-shirt and also got one for my brother. It is called "What would McGyver do?" and I bought it because he was such a huge fan of that series back in the 80ies when he was little. The sale ends on December 16th.

The Pink scarf

Ever since I have seen this picture of Tracy Tylor on The Sartorialist, I wanted to have a pink scarf just like hers. So I turned myself to Ebay and looked out for warm and cosy pashmina scarves but sadly I forgot to place my bid for the second time right now. I didn't go so much for the real thing, but a mixture of cashmere and silk would have been just fine for me. So now I'll have to wait until new ones are listed. Bold pink is rather rare I guess.

Presents for myself

Once again H&M have their holiday special offers this year. Although I find it kind of ridiculous to shop for Christmas presents in the middle of november I thought it was not so ridiculous to get something for me. So I bought myself this sequin skirt for 9.99€ and also the sequin dress for 19.99€:

And since I'm already quite into this, I couldn't keep myself from looking what they will have to offer during the next weeks, so this is, what I'll probably
end up with:

This black or grey lurex dress for 9.90€ on november 22:

This little cute fake fur jacket at the price of 14,90€ on november 29. Although I'm wondering about how it will look like in real life since it is so cheap:

And finally another lurex dress for 9.90€ at december 20:
