New York: Part 1

I wasn't following fashion week the last two times, but this time, I thought, I am going to follow it  on style.com again, to pick out my favourites and post them on the blog. It also would be something nice to relate on, once fall is about to come and I am looking for some inspiration. From the ones I've seen, these are the ones I liked best:

Photobucket
Ruffian: I do like the ladylike looks, which definitely have a 1970's feel to them.

Jason Wu: love the sheer dresses and the classical 60's elements

Karen Walker I liked best. I love the pastels here, and the combination of light grey and pink.  It makes me want to bring out my soft pink ballet flats and pair them with grey woolen tights.  But I think I don't own a matching dress for that. It also seems, that overknees are going to be big (again) next fall. I've seen them everywhere.

Spring Inspiration: Kate Spade

I know, I posted about Kate Spade's fall collection before and it seems to me I like the spring collection almost equally. I really love the splashes of colour with the pastels. And there's a lot of orange too. And of course, polka dots. I'm such a sucker for polka dots, I need to prevent myself from buying dresses with polka dots, just because I already own too many of them.

At the Pond

Yesterday, we took a walk in the park and it was even possible to take off my coat for a while and take some outfit shots with the new camera which finally arrived. I still haven't figured out how to take decent shots with it yet, the pictures appear kind of blurry. So I'm a bit undecided, if I should send it back or keep it and learn how to use it. I had to take indoor shots today, and I couldn't figure out the whitebalance, so this was quite annoying.

The outfit I'm wearing is inspired by fall colours, although I can see that dress working in summer as well. I thrifted it this week and originally had the intention to sell it, but I just couldn't part with it. I don't usually find dresses from the 1950's. And this one even fits me like a glove. It's tailor made and has a very funny print on it. I already wore it twice this week, I definitely had to keep it.

Vintage 1950's Dress: thrifted
Cardigan: H&M
Tights: C&A
Vintage 1970's Boots: Fleamarket

Rainy Days

It was raining cats and dogs today, and I mean all day. It's better than this snow though, because it just makes me feel we are a little closer to spring now, but this could be a false conclusion. It made me think about that saying, raining cats and dogs, and where it would come from. I have no idea, but I like it somehow. So I decided to cheer myself up and make a little collection of cats and dog things.

Those rainy days also make you remember, that there actually is something in between winter and spring. When we think spring, we like to think about the first sunny days and flowers in bloom when we will wear sundresses again, but I know that there will be a lot of uncomfortable days before that. Last year I was on the lookout for a cute vintage raincoat, but somehow forgot about it. I think I will start looking again now.

How to marry a millionaire...

Photobucket

Right when I was rambling about, how they don't play old movies on TV anymore, they showed "How to marry a millionaire", which is definitely one of my favourite movies. I never payed any attention to the clothes though, so when I watched it this time, it was like new to me in a way. I liked Lauren Bacalls wardrobe best and, of course, Marilyn Monroes glasses are the best.

I was really determined to take some outfit pictures in the snow today, because the wheather was extra lovely with even the sun coming out for a few hours. Sadly, my camera died today, because it fell down while I was taking Ebay pics and I have to buy a new one now...

Winter Blues

Photobucket

I'm pretty sick of winter now. Although I must admit it looks kind of beautiful in pictures. I did have quite a thrifting adventure this week, but more on that later.

I was reading 40 pages of Anna Karenina in a book store this week. Now I'm eager to know how the story goes on. I guess I should have bought the book then...

Pattern Mixing

There was no chance to take an outfit pic today, as I didn't even leave the house due to that awful weather we're having at the moment. So I thought instead of dressing myself I could as well waste some time on the H&M website dressing up virtual models. I had this idea for spring about mixing different floral patterns for some time now. I would like to combine this cardigan with this skirt, but I'm not entirely sure if it works: What do you think? And also, which skirt would be better? I guess, one would have to go to the store and see how the colours actally look like.
