First Signs of Spring

I was hunting down the first signs of spring that day, looking at every little blossom I could find twice, just to be extra sure, that it's really coming. The birds were all breeding or building their nests, so I guess, they couldn't be wrong, could they?

I wore my new dress, I just got off of Ebay. It was really cheap, and I was surprised it was so lovely, as I couldn't tell from the photo exactly.

V like Vintage

For those of you that love to look at vintage photographs of all kinds, especially those taken by amateur photographers I would like to recommend this site, to which I came across this weekend by incident. It's name is V like Vintage, and you can browse through the pictures by different categories or decades. There's even a fashion category. I found some pretty spring inspirations there. But I also loved to flip through all the old fashioned holiday postcards and tourist places. They had such a flair back then...

Cake

We went for coffee and cake to my parents' house today. I made brioche, which was actually really good, although I had never made it before. My mom didn't like my dress too much, she said it is too grandma-ish, but I like granny things. I can't help it.

Spring Inspiration: The 50ies & Pink

I found myself pretty drawn to pink lately. I guess this just expresses my need for spring. It might have also something to do with this post on Vintage Vixen's blog. I love how she combined her dress with the black accessories. So I did a little inspiration shopping on Etsy and found some cute 1950's pieces:

New York: Part 1

I wasn't following fashion week the last two times, but this time, I thought, I am going to follow it  on style.com again, to pick out my favourites and post them on the blog. It also would be something nice to relate on, once fall is about to come and I am looking for some inspiration. From the ones I've seen, these are the ones I liked best:

Photobucket
Ruffian: I do like the ladylike looks, which definitely have a 1970's feel to them.

Jason Wu: love the sheer dresses and the classical 60's elements

Karen Walker I liked best. I love the pastels here, and the combination of light grey and pink.  It makes me want to bring out my soft pink ballet flats and pair them with grey woolen tights.  But I think I don't own a matching dress for that. It also seems, that overknees are going to be big (again) next fall. I've seen them everywhere.

Spring Inspiration: Kate Spade

I know, I posted about Kate Spade's fall collection before and it seems to me I like the spring collection almost equally. I really love the splashes of colour with the pastels. And there's a lot of orange too. And of course, polka dots. I'm such a sucker for polka dots, I need to prevent myself from buying dresses with polka dots, just because I already own too many of them.

At the Pond

Yesterday, we took a walk in the park and it was even possible to take off my coat for a while and take some outfit shots with the new camera which finally arrived. I still haven't figured out how to take decent shots with it yet, the pictures appear kind of blurry. So I'm a bit undecided, if I should send it back or keep it and learn how to use it. I had to take indoor shots today, and I couldn't figure out the whitebalance, so this was quite annoying.

The outfit I'm wearing is inspired by fall colours, although I can see that dress working in summer as well. I thrifted it this week and originally had the intention to sell it, but I just couldn't part with it. I don't usually find dresses from the 1950's. And this one even fits me like a glove. It's tailor made and has a very funny print on it. I already wore it twice this week, I definitely had to keep it.
